Tejal Amin has been closely associated with Industry, Education and Socio-cultural activities in Vadodara city since the last 30 years. As Chairperson of the 47-year old Navrachana Education Society, she has driven its qualitative expansion from a single institution to one that has initiated 8 more institutions, including leading schools, focused and innovative programs and, most recently, the Navrachana University. The Society provides schooling to over 8000 students through more than 500 qualified and experienced staff, teachers and proactive principals. In a matter of less than three years, the Society’s youngest addition, the Navrachana University, has grown from one offering under-graduate programs in Management, Computer Administration and Education to one that now includes a vibrant School of Architecture & Interior Design and a full-fledged School of Engineering & Technology.
She is also Director of Jyoti Ltd and full time Director of JSL Industries, Mogar, both leading engineering Companies in this country, manufacturing high technology engineering products.
Tejal Amin’s deep and focused involvement in several socio-cultural activities gives her a profile of someone who is also looking at the several challenges facing Vadodara city.
Herself a Visharad and Gold Medalist in Bharat Natyam, Mrs Amin is Secretary & Founder Trustee, Ghargharika, a non-profit organization devoted to sustaining and promoting interest in the Performing Arts, especially in classical dance in Vadodara City. As a leading cultural organization of the city, Ghargharika organizes performances by well-known as well as promising Indian and visiting artistes.
She is also the Founding Director, and Chairperson, Organizing Committee of the Vadodara Marathon, a non-profit company which holds the very popular annual Half Marathon and other programs in the city for creating civic awareness and raising funds for improving infrastructure and quality of life in Vadodara. The Association of International Marathon (AIM), Greece, has given the Vadodara Marathon the title “Smallest City Biggest Marathon”.
Currently, Tejal Amin is the Vice President in “Bal Gokulam”- a home for destitute and orphan children. She is on the Gujarat State Executive Committee of CII and also member of State Advisory Committee for Vibrant Gujarat 2013, and she is also Vice-Chair, CEO Forum of Baroda Management Association, Vadodara. She is also a member of the Managing Committee of Federation of Gujarat, Vadodara.
Earlier, she was actively involved in several public fora such as the Vadodara Initiative, a former member of M.S.U Senate, was member, Bal Bhavan Organising Committee, and member, WWF- Gujarat State Executive Committee.
Tejal Amin has been the recipient of several awards appreciating her contribution from various socio-cultural and educational organizations in Vadodara and in Gujarat state.
